Anand Frequently we get so involved in dealing with daily problems that we tend to forget about the major improvements and accomplishments going on all around us. Of course, these do not happen automatically but are the result of hard work by a lot of people. To list just a few of these accomplishments, take a look at the following areas. . Ventilation on 5th floor West End. . New paint on 2nd floor. . Start up of 7 frames on 1st floor East End. . Start up of maintenance programs in Twisting. . Start up of Domier looms on 1st floor West End. . Trials with the Grob Essenback Unit on a Sulzer loom. . Feeding selvages over end on Draper looms. . Implementation of fiberglass leaders on Sulzer looms. . New flooring in #3 Unit. . New oven walls in #8 Unit. . Computerized stretch/tension control on #8 Unit. . Improvements to the N-3 operation. All of the above have been done in tlie last two months and will contribute to a better environment and enhance our productivity smd quality. Thanks to everyone who worked on these projects. George W. Aucott, a 33 year veteran of Firestone, has been named chief executive officer and president of the unified compciny. Akira Yeire, president of Bridgestone Corporation stated, "The consolidation of our major subsidiciries in North America will permit us to build upon the strengths of each of our organizations and enable us to speak with one voice to our customers, our suppliers and our employees. The past year since the merger of Bridgestone and Firestone has been spent reviewing our worldwide orgEinization and operations. We are confident that this consolidation will allow our operations to respond more efficiently to the challenges £uid opportunities in the 1990's cind beyond. We are drawing upon our combined executive resources to create 2in independent management team to further strengthen and focus our mcinufacturing and marketing position in North America, which is one of the three major areas in our global strategy." Drawing for other Fair Share prizes displayed in the lobby will be held Thursday, August 31st at 2:45 p.m. A United Way sponGorod cholesterol check will be conducted by the Heart Society in the plant conference room. Testing should take about five minutes per en^loyee with a charge of $3 per test.
